Essentials to win on the final table: Mind Control
Any poker enthusiast would know that mind set is a very important factor when you are trying to reach the final table and when you are trying to win.
It might be a very good thing to be the chip leader but it is also a very difficult position. Those who have most of the chips are actually struggling to keep them. The other players who are lagging behind play good poker because they are catching up. The chipleader has a false sense of security that he or she can push everyone around. As a result the leading player has a tendency to commit mistakes.
Confidence should be on top of the list if you want to be the last person standing on the final table. Let us take a look at other mind control issues that you may have to deal with when you reach the final poker table:
Issues on trusting one’s gut
Doubting yourself
Negative thoughts
These things among others will ruin your focus and decision making on the final table. You need something like a rubber around your wrist. Any negative thoughts affecting your game and all you need to do is snap the rubber band to remind you of the game. In this example, pain will help a lot with your focus. There are other ways you can think of, of course.
Poker players should also most of the time trust their instincts. The gut most often than not is right.
When you step onto the final table you can tell the other players’ mindsets. Some will have the will to win while the others forego of their opportunity to be the best.
Poker and Alcohol
Many professional players have candidly confessed that alcohol and poker do not go hand in hand. Alcohol has a detrimental effect on the game. You need a clear head to make pertinent judgments which would have deep impact on the game and the poker table. Alcohol may be one of the reasons for the failure of your performance at the poker table.
There is a stark difference between a good and an ordinary player. There is a fundamental difference between playing a good game and winning a game. The element that causes damage to your thinking abilities is alcohol.
The root of the problem is alcohol consumption. You should know about your abilities and capabilities. You should know whether you can control yourself after imbibing liquor or not. However it has been advised that alcohol should not be consumed while playing a game of poker.
Poker is a complex game with numerous rules. You have to alert all the while because you need to concentrate on your own game and also on examine and gauge the opponents and their respective games. It is a difficult task. And alcohol consumption makes it very difficult. Your mind is clogged and you are unable to think clearly which impacts your game in a detrimental way.

Big Mistakes vs. Small Mistakes In Poker!
When you are playing poker, you are going to make mistakes … everyone does, no matter if you are a master at the game or you are just starting out. It is all part of the process and it is definitely something that you will learn all about. However, you need to make sure that you know the differences between big mistakes and small mistakes, there is a huge difference, remember that.
First and foremost, in poker, a mistake is a play with a negative expected value and good gambles actually understand that the only thing that matters is the expected value. Luck of course plays a part, but really, luck is not substantial.
A small mistake could be something that will cost you $50.00 where a big mistake could cost you a heck of a lot of money. Keep that in mind.
Beating the Draw: 5
Okay, we have come to the end of the line for this series, but we still need to talk about observation. In particular, in order to beat the draw, you need to be aware of the hand history of the game you are playing. If there is a history available, check it as much as you can. Keep up on which cards have been played and what cards your opponents have had.
Keeping an eye on misrepresented draws is especially important. It is quite common to draw just a single card while actually holding trips. This may be indicative of two low or small pairs, or it can indicate an opponents’ draw. Keep an eye out for players who stand pat as well.
Beating the Draw: 4
We are coming down to the wire in the art of learning to meet the draw — so you will not be playing missed draw poker any longer.
The real key to beating the draw is actually one of the only things you can control — and it i actually something which can benefit you in all aspects of poker, or gambling in general, no matter what the variation and no matter what the game.
To put it quite simply, you have got to be observant. If you have a good memory, especially, you need to utilize it, but you do not necessarily have to have a photographic memory to be a good poker player and to learn to beat the draw.
Like say, you simply have to be observant. You have to observe your fellow players no matter what.

Beating the Draw: 3
For a moment, let’s return to the tail end of the previous post. As briefly stated at the end there, we do have a few more telltale signs to take a look at before we continue. Remember, when it comes to beating the draw, be it in Five Card Draw or Seven Card Draw, paying attention to the way your opponents draw is just as important as maintaining your own strategies.
So, that being said, keep in mind that quite often, a player who first raises and then goes on to draw two cards likely has trips. Sometimes they will have kings or aces, accompanied by a promising kicker.
On the other hand, if a player makes a point of checking the blinds before going on to draw a single card, he or she probably has either a flush draw or a straight draw.
Of course, these example hands are simply the most likely, the most probable. They will not always be true.
Beating the Draw: 2
Raising ranges are important to understand when you are working to keep from missing your draw. You need to assign them right to your fellow players. See, sometimes an opponent may only raise when they have a strong two pair at the very least. However, others may raise at any time. You thus need to start paying attention to some telltale clues, such as your opponents’ pre draw bets.
For example, if a player limps, calls, or bets a small amount and then draws three cards, he or she likely has a pair.
If a play limps and then draws two cards, he or she likely has a pair along with a solitary king or ace.
if a play limps or calls and then draws a single card, he or she likely has either a small two pair hand or perhaps a draw leading to a straight or a flush.
Nor are these the only telltale betting clues; more in the next post, though.
